FORUM AT MAWENI CDF CLINIC ON 09/05/2012
Coast Women In Development -CWID in collaboration with Aphia plus did sensitization on Sexual Gender Based Violence-SGBV for the mothers and fathers who attended the Maweni Community Development Funds-CDF clinic for free breast cancer and cervical cancer screening and other minor illnesses. This was a day to mark the mother’s day which will be hosted in Malindi. CWID enlightened the community on the importance of reporting GBV cases early and follow up, the importance of keeping records and preserving evidence to be used during the court process. The community was made aware that a survivor should reach the hospital not later than 72 hrs .A post rape care form will be filled at the hospital,....more

The training brought together the Pwani GBV network, the media, police officers and Badilika members of sexual offenders that have come up to be ambassadors of change within the prison and outside after their jail terms. The main objective of the training was to Stimulate individuals to take action to prevent violence against women. The training was focused on inspiring everyday activists who will be able to use their power to create positive changes in the families, work place and communities....more

The project started with a micro-credit program where women groups are given soft loans individually. The loans have improved the livelihoods of the participating women. Through these loans they are able to fend for their families, pay school fees for their children and boost their small businesses....more

Maternal mortality, infant mortality, HIV/AIDS and Sexual Gender Based Violence are major setbacks to the health of Women in the Kenyan Coast specifically Mombasa County today.
